Town of Beech Birthday Bash!

Beech Mountain Birthday Saturday, May 1st 2010. Help us celebrate the 19th anniversary of the Town of Beech Mountain at Buckeye Recreation Center! May 1st also Arbor Day and we are celebrating with a special presentation and tree planting. Festivities start at 5:30 p.m. at Buckeye Recreation Center with a potluck dinner (bring something yummy). Later, watch the Tree City USA Award Presentation to be presented by Eric Muecke, the Western Region Urban Forestry Specialist with the North Carolina Division of Forest Resources & Ceremony From the National Arbor Day Foundation. We will also be replanting one of the south's most amazing treasures, the American Chestnut Tree. There is plenty of fun for the whole family so come on out and join us! Don't forget to bring a dish! The Town will Provide Lemonade, Iced Tea, and the Birthday/Arbor Day Cake. If you would like to BYOB, please be responsible and plan for a drive.

Want to earn that birthday cake? Be at the Buckeye Recreation Center before 9AM and join the Grandfather Mountain Excursion Hike. The hike will follow the Profile Trail up Grandfather Mountain. Hike is a 6-mile round-trip hike with moderate to difficult terrain following the western spine up Grandfather Mountain near Foscoe, NC.
